The SpamAssassin(tm) mail filtering software is widely recognized as a very effective tool for identifying spam. It uses a wide variety of rules and tests to identify and label email messages as "spam" or "ham". Once a message has been tagged by SpamAssassin, the recipient can use their mail program (Outlook, Eudora, etc.) to filter incoming mail as desired. (SpamAssassin is a trademark of Deersoft, Inc.)

NIproxy Spam Filtering

Our Spam Filtering service uses SpamAssassin to augment the Net Integrator's spam identification facilities, for easier sorting or filtering by your mail client.

Spam Filtering is implemented as an additional processing step in our Mail Proxy service, and requires no additional configuration on your part (other than any client side filtering you choose to implement with the tagged mail).

Why Don't We Just Toss the Spam?

Our Spam Filtering service merely tags mail messages with a variety of tests to attempt to identify the likelihood that a message is spam. But, like virtually every current spam-fighting tool, mistakes do happen, and messages can be tagged incorrectly.

For this reason, among others, we recommend that mail clients be configured to sort suspected spam into a separate folder, that can be quickly scanned from time to time before deleting any unwanted messages.
